Description: The Walton County Board of Education is committed to providing a school environment that enhances learning and development of lifelong wellness practices through nutrition education, physical activity and other school-based activities.

The Superintendent or designee shall develop regulations, procedures, and/or guidelines in order to ensure implementation of a Wellness Program. The Director of School Nutrition will be the district’s designee to ensure the Wellness Program meets current federal requirements. The Wellness Program will include:
 
(1) Measurable goals for nutrition education and promotion, physical activity, and other school-based activities that promote student wellness; and

(2) Nutritional requirements for all foods and beverages available in schools during the school day in order to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws; and

(3) Protocols to guide administrators to ensure food and beverage marketing or advertising is in compliance with federal regulations.

The School District will engage the community and stakeholders in the development, implementation, and periodic review of the Wellness Program. The Wellness Program designee will facilitate evaluation of the Wellness Program at least once every three years. The designee will ensure easy access to Wellness Program regulations and assessments via District webpages.
